Jelveh Jaferian

Zen-Doodle Series

$400 includes all materials plus fancy luncheon both days.

soft glass- beyond beginner to immediate skill required

This class is geared towards beginner to intermediate levels of flameworking. students will learn several different ways of making, pulling and using the type of encased stringer that Jelveh uses for her beads. You will use these different stringer types in making more detaled designs. From the cross-hatched design to swirls, straight lines to hearts. beside stringer control and details, you will also explore some reductions glasses such as triton from Double Helix. By mid second day everyone should be able to make a bead similar to the zen doodle series. please let us know what you are hoping to learn about stringer control.

For jelveh, the Zen-Doodle Bead Series is just another expression of her love of mosaics. Piecing things together, figuring out the puzzle. Pretty much what every person does most of their life, making sense of life, finding the balance.

The Zen-Doodle beads came together for jelveh at such a time in life. Where you consciously decide to have an amazing life, to accept the good, the bad and the in-betweens, bring them together and see the wonderful tapestry that your world is made of. Glass has always been a source of love and clarity for her in that regard.

skill level: beyond beginner to advanced - for anyone wanting more control of stringer control

The class will cover how to approach winding glass onto a mandrel, how to marver, heat control and how to look at molds in a different way. If you have a shape in mind but haven’t been able to achieve it, then this class is for you as well. You will learnl the “under bead” method developed to make larger beads that appear to be smaller stacked beads. Finally, we will spend some time discussing decoration on your hand shaped beads.
